Doug and I decided there were a lot of "things" we needed so we headed to Little Rock this afternoon to go to Sam's Club. We went in and as I always do, I handed the club card to Doug to put it in his pocket. We got Doug some shorts, some new knives, fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and cheese. Doug wanted to buy a new TV for the living room. 60" visio He tried to convince me by telling me we would hang it over the fireplace. He knows that I would love to have the TV hanging on the wall above the fireplace. It doesn't matter that the one we have, though not the new slim kind, is still working fine. I gently eased him away from the TVs. We moved over to the Bose sound systems, and wouldn't you know it, he found one of those he liked! One that he seems to think that would work wonderfully in the motor home.
Moving on.....
We gathered everything that we needed and headed to the check out. I asked Doug for the Sam's card and guess what? He lost it. He thinks that it fell out of his pocket when he took his reading glasses out. He went all over the store looking and never found it. We called the 800 number and reported it lost. It was a credit card also. Then we had to go to the service center to get a temp card so we could check out. Bummer! They are closing that account, I will get a new card next time I go to Sam's. Oh well.
Homeward bound....

Adding Pages
Since we aren't traveling anywhere this weekend, I thought I might do a little updating on the blog page.
I have added some of out favorite places to camp in Arkansas. There are so many I will add more later. If you like to fish, hike, boating, horse races, or just relax at your campsite, this is the place to be.

Our trip to Maumelle RV Park and Pinnacle Mountain
We left Thursday afternoon after work and headed for Maumelle. This is a nice place to stay when you don't have alot of time off. Its not far and there is plenty to do. It was dark by the time we got set up so we went into town and grabbed something to eat at Mexico Chicito.
Friday we slept late and then cooked breakfast before heading into town to do a little shopping. We headed to the Apple store to get the Ipad upgraded and do some wishing. Camping World was the next stop. Doug had to order a part for the commode. No shopping trip is complete unless you go to wal-mart, so off we went. By the time we finished all the running around it was time for supper. We went to Texas Roadhouse for a steak and then back to the MH to rest our tired feet.
Saturday we went to the RV show in Little Rock with Jim and Libby. They had some beautiful units to drool over. I had to drag Doug out before he bought a new motorhome. He found a new Allegra Red with four slides, king sized bed and residential sized refrigerator. It was really nice and I would love to have it, but I kept thinking that payment each month sure would buy alot of diesel. Sale price was only $164,000.
This is the floor plan of the one we liked so much.
Just looking at the pics gives me the "gotta have it's"! The bad thing about this new unit is that it only gets 6-8 miles per gal. Our HR gets 9-13!
I know that still isnt great but hey, its a rolling house, what do you expect.
Sunday we went to Pinnacle Mountain. This is a view from the lookout next to the Visitor Center.
Another view from the lookout.
We decided to walk the East Quarry trail. It said it was only 1 mile. I can do 1 mile no problem. That was the longest, rockiest, steepest 1 mile I have ever walked. I deserve a "I survived the East Quarry Trail" t-shirt!
This is part of the trail. You can see how rocky it is but not how steep.
When we got down to the bottom of the mountain, this is what we saw. They had a nice bench for us to stop and rest. I really needed that!
It was a great long weekend. We hated to head back home for another work week.
Counting the days til we can hit the road again.....

Tip for the Day
Did you know that there are many uses for Bounce dryer sheets? Yes they are great in the dryer but did you know that you can use them wet to get the bugs off the front of your motor home? They work great! those little critters come right off. You can also put one in your pocket and they will repel mosquito's.
Did you know that that glass stove cleaner will polish your headlights making them brighter at night? This cleaner is alot cheaper than the polish they sell to clean your headlights with.
I have starting following several bloggers lately that have given me alot of new information. I hope that I can, as I learn more, be as helpful to others as they have been to me.
Just trying to stay warm today, and counting the days til I am in the motor home again.

more of the kitchen I have alot of counter space As you can see in the next picture the slide isnt out. It runs from the back of the drivers seat toward the mirror there at the sink |

Trip to Little Rock
Took Doug to the eye doctor in Little Rock today. Got a good report. After leaving there we went shopping a bit and then headed to Maumelle Park to look at sites. The Matthews suggested we go to Maumelle next week instead of Hot Springs since the RV show was in town. We were looking for a good site that the satellite would also work on. We picked one out and went into the office to see what was available. It was our lucky day! Our first choice was available so we went ahead and made reservations for 4 nights next week. We finished the day off with a trip to Cheeburger Cheeburger! Dont order the platter unless you are starving! It came with a salad and onion rings. I assumed it would be a small side salad. NOT! The next time I order that I will have someone to split it with. Way to much food for one person.
After stuffing ourselves we headed home. Got home just in time to see Big Bang Theory!

Not a very good day at work today. I think I will start counting the days til retirement. Watching the days click off hopefully will make them go by faster. I am making reservations for our trip in a couple of weeks. We are going to Catherines Landing in Hot Springs. It seems real nice. Cant wait to see it. I will take lots of pics. I will also take pics of the motorhome for the blog site.
Monday, February 6, 2012
Well we have decided on Catherines Landing in Hot Springs for our next trip. We are leaving Thursday and returning Monday. I found another great looking place that I want to go but I really think we need a week. Ozark RV Resort in north Arkansas. They sell rv lots too! only $39,000-$79,000. How many should we buy! It looks really nice. Think I'll just rent though.

Super Bowl Sunday for some
I have spent the afternoon knotting pearls and looking in the campground directory. I accomplished finishing a necklace, a bracelet and a lanyard but not finding a campground.
Eureka Springs sounds good. So does the White River. Doug could do some trout fishing. I wouldn't know what to do with it if he caught any, but he could have fun trying to catch em. As long as I am in the RV, I am happy. It doesn't matter where it's parked. I still til thursday thursday to decide where we're going. That's plenty of time.

The Countdown to Retirement
Doug and I have spent the last year preparing for retirement. We had hoped that this January would see that day finally arrive. But alas, we will have to delay the much anticipated day for another year. January 2013 is the new date. Until then short trips in the motorhome is all we have to look forward to. We have a trip coming up this month. Now all we have to do is decide where to go. We only have 4 days so it will have to be a close trip. Petit Jean would be nice, but I think its closed down for the season. Vicksburg, Ms. has antebellum homes to see. Murfressboro has diamonds to look for! I think I will put a bunch of places in a hat and draw one.
As soon as I know, I'll let you know.
